Loading... Dostoevsky: Language, Faith and Fiction (original 2008; edition 2008)by Rowan WilliamsDensely written, Williams sometimes needs to trim his sentences from ten lines down to two or three to sustain clear meaning. It would be necessary, in order to do justice to his work however, to be far more thoroughly familiar with Dostoevsky's every passage and character than I could ever claim to be. What I can say is that Williams has rightly extrapolated from his subject a warning for our time: that a society that throws out consciousness of an Other is a society that faces decline to chaos. Williams should know. |
