For the tuition thus wanting in collegiate establishments (a defect which Lord Bacon's notice has done nothing to cure), some succedaneum might be found in the due direction of private education to this end, by parents who design their sons for political life. At the age

of sixteen, or thereabouts, the general education of the boy should be for the most part completed; and whether or not it be completed, at that age, or but little later, the specific should begin.
