2 Wildly the storm sweeps us on as it roars,
We're homeward bound, homeward bound
Look! yonder lie the bright heavenly shores,

We're homeward bound, homeward bound;
Steady, O pilot! stand firm at the wheel,
Steady, we soon shall outweather the gale:
Oh, how we fly 'neath the loud creaking sail,

We're homeward bound, homeward bound. 3 We'll tell the world as we journey along,

We're homeward bound, homeward bound; Try to persuade them to enter our throng;

We're homeward bound, homeward bound. Come, trembling sinner, forlorn and opprest, Join in our number, oh, come and be blest! Journey with us to the mansions of rest;

We're homeward bound, homeward bound, 4 Into the harbour of heaven now we glide, We're home at last, home at last; Softly we drift on the bright silver tide, We're home at last, home at last; Glory to God! all our dangers are o'er; Safely we stand on the radiant shore ; Glory to God! we will shout evermore, We're home at last, home at last. "Haste thee, escape."

Gen. xvii. 22.

HASTEN, sinner, to be wise,

Stay not for the morrow's sun
Longer Wisdom you despise,
Harder is she to be won.

2 Hasten mercy to implore,

Stay not for the morrow's sun;
Lest thy season should be o'er
Ere this evening's stage be run

3 Hasten, sinner, to return,

Stay not for the morrow's sun;
Lest thy lamp should fail to burn,
Ere salvation's work is done.

4 Hasten, sinner, to be blest,

Stay not for the morrow's sun;
Fear that death should thee arrest,
Ere the morrow is begun.

5 Lord, do Thou the sinner turn;
Nor await the morrow's sun;
Let him not Thy counsel spurn,
But deserved vengeance shun.

"Jesus of Nazareth passeth by."

Luke xviii. 37.

8's, 6 lines.

WHAT means this eager, anxious throng,

Which moves with busy haste along-
These wondrous gatherings day by day?
What means this strange commotion, pray?
In accents hushed the throng reply,
"Jesus of Nazareth passeth by."

2 Who is this Jesus? Why should He
The city move so mightily?

A passing stranger, has He skill
To move the multitude at will?
Again the stirring tones reply,
"Jesus of Nazareth passeth by."

3 Jesus! 'tis He who once below

Man's pathway trod, 'mid pain and woe;
And burdened ones, where'er He came,
Brought out their sick, and deaf, and lame.
The blind rejoiced to hear the cry,
"Jesus of Nazareth passeth by."

4 Again he comes! From place to place
His holy footprints we can trace.
He pauseth at our threshold-nay,
He enters-condescends to stay.
Shall we not gladly raise the cry ?-
"Jesus of Nazareth passeth by."

5 Ho! all ye heavy-laden, come!
Here's pardon, comfort, rest, and home.
Ye wanderers from a Father's face,
Return, accept His proffered grace.
Ye tempted ones, there's refuge nigh;
"Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.'

6 But if you still His call refuse,
And all His wondrous love abuse,
Soon will he sadly from you turn,
Your bitter prayer for pardon spurn.
"Too late! too late!" will be the cry-
"Jesus of Nazareth has passed by."
"Christ is righteousness."

NOT

all the blood of beasts

On Jewish altars slain,

Could give the guilty conscience peace,
Or wash away the stain.

But Christ, the heavenly Lamb,
Takes all our sins away,
A sacrifice of nobler name,

And richer blood than they.
3 My faith would lay her hand
On that dear head of Thine,
While, like a penitent, I stand,
And there confess my sin.

4 My soul looks back to see

The burden Thou didst bear,
While hanging on the accursed tree,
And knows her guilt was there.

5 Believing, we rejoice

To feel the curse remove;

We bless the Lamb with cheerful voice,
And trust His bleeding love.

"I will arise, and go to my father."
Luke xv. 18.

1 COME home, come home! You are weary at heart,
For the way has been dark, and so lonely and wild:
O prodigal child! Come home; oh, come home!
Come home! come, oh come home!

2 Come home, come home! For we watch and we wait; And we stand at the gate, while the shadows are piled: O prodigal child! Come home; oh, come home!

3 Come home, come home! From the sorrow and blame, From the sin and the shame, and the tempter that

smiled:

O prodigal child! Come home; oh, come home !

4 Come home, come home! There is bread and to

spare,

[ciled:

And a warm welcome there: then, to friends recon-
O prodigal child! Come home; oh, come home!

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord."
Ps. lxvi. 1.

COME to the Saviour, make no delay;

Here in His word He's shown us the way;
Here in our midst He's standing to-day,
Tenderly saying, "Come!"

"Suffer the children!" Oh, hear His voice,
Let every heart leap forth and rejoice;
And let us freely make Him our choice:
Do not delay, but come.
318

3 Think once again, He's with us to-day; Heed now His blest commands, and obey; Hear now His accents tenderly say,

"Will you, my children, come?"

Chorus-Joyful, joyful, will the meeting be,

When from sin our hearts are pure and free;
And we shall gather, Saviour, with Thee,
In our eternal home.

day and night."-Rev. vii. 13.

round the throne, at God's right hand,
The saints in countless myriads stand;
Of every tongue, redeemed to God,
Arrayed in garments washed in blood.
2 Through tribulation great they came,
They bore the cross, despised the shame,
From all their labours now they rest,
In God's eternal glory blest.

3 Hunger and thirst they feel no more,
Nor sin, nor pain, nor death deplore;
The tears are wiped from every eye,
And sorrow yields to endless joy.

4 They see their Saviour face to face,
And sing the triumphs of His grace:
Him, day and night, they ceaseless praise,
To Him their loud hosannas raise.
5 "Worthy the Lamb, for sinners slain,
"Through endless years to live and reign;
"Thou hast redeemed us by Thy blood,
"And made us kings and priests to God."

"Now will I sing to my well-beloved."
Is. v. 1.

OH

H! for a sweet seraphic voice
To sing my Saviour's praise,

To show His goodness and His love,
And all His bounteous grace.

2 I'd sound His praise to heavenly heights,
And tell th' angelic host

Of all the wonders He has wrought,

And in Him make my boast.

3 My lips should swell with notes so sweet,
That, with delighted ear,

The tribes of heaven should stop their song,
And rapture all appear.

4 The lowest deep should hear the sound
Of Jesus' glorious name,

And through created nature's bound
I'd spread abroad His fame.

5 Yes, blessed Lord, Thy precious name
Should dwell upon my tongue,
And JESUS and salvation be,

The theme of ev'ry song.

"Lead me into the land of uprightness."
Ps. cxliii. 10.

6.5.6.5. RIGHTLY gleams our banner, pointing to the sky, Waving on Christ's soldiers to their home on high! Marching through the desert, gladly thus we pray, Still, with hearts united, singing on our way,

Brightly gleams our banner, pointing to the sky,
Waving on Christ's soldiers to their home on high !

2 Jesu, Lord and Master, at Thy sacred feet,
Here, with hearts rejoicing, see Thy children meet.
Often have we left Thee, often gone astray;
Keep us, mighty Saviour, in the narrow way.

3 Pattern of our childhood, once Thyself a child,
Make our childhood holy, pure, and meek, and mild.
In the hour of danger whither can we flee,
Save to Thee, dear Saviour, only unto Thee!

4 All our days direct us in the way we go;
Crown us still victorious over every foe:

Bid Thine angels shield us when the storm-clouds lour; Pardon Thou and save us in the last dread hour.

5 Then with saints and angels may we join above, Offering prayers and praises at Thy throne of love. When the march is over, then come rest and peace, Jesus in His beauty! songs that never cease!

"Unto Him that loved us."

Rev. i. 5.

NOW begin the heavenly theme:

Sing aloud in Jesus' name;
Ye who His salvation prove
Triumph in redeeming love.

2 Ye, who see the Father's grace
Beaming in the Saviour's face,
As to Canaan on ye move,
Praise and bless redeeming love.
