8 Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore : Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness, Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.

4 Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;

Strength for thy labour the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wanderer a Saviour has died.
Chorus-Rescue the perishing, care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.
"Thou shalt call His name Jesus.'

1 JESUS, Immanuel, Saviour! words holy and sublime; How shall their wondrous cadence re-echo through all time!

Jesus, the sweetest music that mortals e'er can know, It soothes the child of sorrow, and lightens every woe. 2 As breezes in the desert, as dew on sterile ground, So to the sad and weary comes the reviving sound As flowers without the sunbeam must lose their bloom and die; [eye.

So hearts can only flourish, dear Lord, beneath Thine 3 Jesus, Thy love unbounded, our dearest theme shall be; Forbid that we should wander, in heart or life, from Thee: [mightKeep, keep us then enfolded within Thine arm of Be Thou our guiding pillar, we ask no better light. FOR

Ex. xx. 11,

the gifts which have descended
From Thy gracious hand to-day;
Heavenly Father, we would thank Thee,
Ere the Sabbath dies away.

2 While the western glory waneth,

While the shadows lengthen fast,
We will gather round Thine altar,
Praising Thee for mercies past.

8 For a day of rest we thank Thee,

For the peace each hour has brought,
For the word of life imparted,

For Thy presence found when sought.

4 For the hope which has been strengthened,
Faith that's gained a clearer height,
For the love which, faint at morning,
Burns an ardent flame to-night.

8,7,

5 Most of all for those we thank Thee,
Who have pardoning grace received,
Listened to the Spirit's pleading,
On the Son of God believed.
6 Raise we, then, exulting voices,
All Thy goodness to proclaim;
May our songs, by Christ presented,
Find acceptance through His Name.

603 "Eye hath not seen the things that God hath

prepared."-1 Cor. ii. 9.

1 THERE'S a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith we can see it afar,
For the Father waits over the way,
To prepare us a dwelling-place there.
2 We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blest;
And our spirits shall sorrow no more-
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.

We will offer the tribute of praise
For the glorious gift of His love,
And the blessings that hallow our days.
Chorus-In the sweet by-and-by,

We shall meet on that beautiful shore,
In the sweet by-and-by,

We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

"The end of the Sabbath."

Matt. xxviii. 1.

THE day of rest is passed away,
The shades of evening fall;

Jesus, in parting, we would pray-
Shed down Thy peace on all.

2 That last bequest to Thy loved sheep,
Redeemed from Satan's thrall,

C.M.

Designed their hearts and minds to keep,-
O pour that peace on all!

3 Give every burdened spirit rest,
Each wandering heart recall;
Receive the contrite to Thy breast,
And shed Thy peace on all.

4 On Thy kind arm may we repose,
Nor ills, nor fears forestall;

Enough, if through life's cares and woes,
Thy peace enshrine us all.

5 The storms of life will soon be o'er ;
Why should they then appal?

The land is nigh where Christ shall pour
Eternal peace on all.

"The Lord is worthy to be praised."
Ps. xviii. 3,

GLORY to God on high!

Let earth to heaven reply;
Praise ye His Name:

His love and grace adore,
Who all our sorrows bore;
And praise Him evermore;
Worthy the Lamb!

2 Jesus, our Lord and God,
Bore sin's tremendous load;
Praise ye His Name:

Tell what His arm hath done,
What spoils from death He won;
Sing His great name alone;
Worthy the Lamb!

3 While they around the throne
Join cheerfully in one,
Praising His Name;

We who have felt His blood
Sealing our peace with God,
Sound His high praise abroad,
Worthy the Lamb!

4 Though we must change our place,
Yet shall we never cease
Praising His Name;

To Him our tribute bring,
Hail Him our gracious King,
And without ceasing, sing
Worthy the Lamb!

"Praise

ye

the Lord."

8,7,

Ps. xlvii, 1.

1 SOUNDS of joyful adoration

Echo round the lofty dome,

Zion's King-who brings salvation

To His temple now is come.

Wave the palm branch, raise your voices,

Swell the song with one accord,

Earth be glad, for heaven rejoices,
Shout Hosanna to the Lord.

2 Hail, Messiah! long expected,
Born a child, and yet a King;
Though by priest and scribe rejected,
Loving hearts their tribute bring:
As we see the true fulfilling
Of the old prophetic word,
Thee, we welcome; and right willing
Shout Hosanna to the Lord.

3 Children, heed not man's displeasure,
Come and join the happy throng,
Chanting forth in tuneful measure
Praises that to Christ belong :
Banish all your fear and trembling,
Lift your voice with one accord,
Let the mouth of babe and suckling
Shout Hosanna to the Lord.

4 Thus in full and swelling chorus,
We our cheerful voices raise,
Christ is come! He comes to save us,
Even in our youthful days:
For His grace our path surrounding
Be His holy name adored,

For His love to us abounding

Shout Hosanna to the Lord.

"Behold I stand at the door and knock."
Rev. iii, 20.

KNOCKING, knocking! who is there?
Waiting, waiting, oh, how fair!
"Tis a Pilgrim, strange and kingly,
Never such was seen before;
Ah, my soul, for such a wonder,

Wilt thou not undo the door?

2 Knocking, knocking; still He's there;
Waiting, waiting, wondrous fair;
But the door is hard to open,

For the weeds and ivy-vine,
With their dark and clinging tendrils,
Ever round the hinges twine.

8 Knocking, knocking-what, still there
Waiting, waiting, grand and fair;
Yes, the piercéd hand still knocketh,
And beneath the crowned hair

Beam the patient eyes, so tender,
Of thy Saviour waiting there.

"Underneath are the everlasting arms."
Deut. xxxiii, 27.

SAFE in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast, There by His love o'ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.

Hark! 'tis the voice of angels borne in a song to me, Over the fields of glory, over the jasper sea.

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast, There by His love o'ershaded,sweetly my soul shall rest. 2 Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe from corroding care, Safe from the world's temptations, sin cannot harm me there. [and fears: Free from the blight of sorrow, free from my doubts Only a few more trials, only a few more tears!

"For Thou, Lord, art good."

Ps. lxxxvi. 5.

11's.

the shining dewdrops, o'er the flowers strew'd
Proving, as they sparkle, God is ever good.
See the morning sunbeams, lighting up the wood,
Silently proclaiming, God is ever good.

Hear the mountain streamlet in the solitude,
With its ripple, saying, God is ever good.

In the leafy tree tops, where no fears intrude,
Merry birds are singing, God is ever good.

Bring, my heart, thy tribute, songs of gratitude,
While all nature utters, God is ever good.
Wake and join the chorus, all with soul endued,
He, whose smile is o'er us, God is ever good.

"He bringeth them to their desired haven."
Ps. cvii, 30,

1 OUT

on an ocean all boundless we ride,
We're homeward bound, homeward bound;
Tossed on the waves of a rough restless tide,

We're homeward bound, homeward bound;
Far from the safe, quiet harbour we've rode,
Seeking our Father's celestial abode,
Promise of which on us each He bestowed,

We're homeward bound, homeward bound.
