2 Give me a calm, a thankful heart, From every murmur free ; The blessings of Thy grace impart, And make me live to Thee.
Let the sweet hope that Thou art mine, My path of life attend;
Thy presence through my journey shine, And crown my journey's end.
"Suffer the little children to come unto Me." MARK X. 14.
FATHER of heaven, to Thee we raise
The cheerful notes of solemn praise Blest be Thy name, Thou God of love, By all on earth, by all above!
Thy tender mercy saw us lie Oppressed with sin and misery, Pitied our helpless, hopeless grief, And sent Thy Son to our relief. O blest Redeemer, who can tell Thy love in saving us from hell? Christ died for us-for us He rose,- And rising, conquered all His foes. 4 How kindly Jesus will receive The youngest, who His word believe: "Forbid them not, My grace is free, Let little children come to Me."
5 While here we live, we'll spend our breath In praising Jesus, and, when death Shall close our lips, our songs shall rise In nobler strains above the skies.
"He.. preserveth the way of His saints.
GOD of Bethel, by whose hand Thy people still are fed,
Who through this weary pilgrimage Hast all our fathers led.
2 Our vows and prayers we now present Before Thy throne of grace;
God of our fathers, be the God Of their succeeding race.
$ Through each perplexing path of life Our wandering footsteps guide; Give us this day our daily bread, And raiment fit provide.
4 O spread Thy covering wings around, Till all our wanderings cease, And at our Father's loved abode Our souls arrive in peace.
Such blessings, from Thy gracious hand, Our humble prayers implore:
And Thou shall be our chosen God And portion, evermore.
giveth grace unto the humble." JAMES 1v. 6.
ORD, if Thou Thy grace impart, Poor in Spirit, meek in heart,
I shall as my Saviour be,- Clothed with humility:
2 Simple, teachable, and mild, Changed into a little child,
Pleased with all the Lord provides, Weaned from all the world besides,
8 Father, fix my soul on Thee; Every evil let me flee;
Nothing want, beneath, above; Happy in Thy care and love.
O that all may seek and find Every good in Christ combined: Him let every saint adore;
Trust Him, Praise Him, evermore!
"Blessed are the poor in spirit." ΜΑΤΤ. Τ. 3.
THOU gracious Father of the poor!
The needy look to Thee;
And bow Thy mercy-seat before, To plead their poverty.
2 All-all are needy: from Thy love Must every blessing flow,
That fits for happiness above, Or usefulness below.
8 Teach us to feel our need,-confess The world itself but dross;
And covet only to possess
The riches of the Cross.
4 On Thee we cast our mortal care: O send Thy spirit down!
And may we, "poor in spirit," share The promised heavenly crown.
"Bless the Lord, O my soul." PSALM CİV.
WORSHIP the King All-glorious above!
O gratefully sing
His power and His love! Our Shield and Defender, The Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendour, And girded with praise. 2 O tell of His might, O sing of His grace, Whose robe is the light, Whose canopy space! His chariots of wrath
The deep thunder-clouds form, And dark is His path
On the wings of the storm. 3 The earth, with its store Of wonders untold, Almighty! Thy power Hath founded of old; Hath 'stablished it fast By a changeless decree, And round it hath cast, Like a mantle, the sea.
4 Thy bountiful care
What tongue can recite: It breathes in the air,
It shines in the light; In streams from the hills, It descends to the plain, And sweetly distils
In the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, And feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, Nor find Thee to fail ; Thy mercies how tender, How firm to the end, Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!
"The wonderful works of God." ACTS ii. 11.
SING the almighty power of God, That made the mountains rise, That spread the flowing seas abroad, And built the lofty skies.
2 I sing the wisdom that ordained The sun to rule by day;
The moon shines full at His command, And all the stars obey.
3 Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed Where'er I turn mine eye!
If I survey the ground I tread, Or gaze upon the sky.
4 There's not a plant or flower below But makes Thy glories known; And clouds arise, and tempests blow, By order from Thy throne.
5 Creatures, as numerous as they be, Are subject to Thy care;
There's not a place where we can flee, But Thou art present there.
6 Thy hand be my perpetual guard ; Preserve me with Thine eye :
O may I ne'er forget Thee, Lord, Who art for ever nigh!
"O Lord, how manifold are Thy works." PSALM civ. 24.
W lovely do Thy works appear, Thou God of wisdom and of might! And all that meets the eye and ear Imparts an ever new delight.
2 Thy name, Thy glorious name is sung By woods, and fields, and sky, and sea; And all creation has a tongue
To render glory, Lord, to Thee.
3 But O, my Father, when I trace, In thought, affection, heart renewed, The "far exceeding," richer grace With which Thou hast my soul endued- 4 Sure I must bless Thee while I live, Whose love has thus looked down on me; And learn, while life is mine, to give The greater glory, Lord, to Thee!
"I will sing praise to the Lord." JUDGES V. 3.
OD is goodness, wisdom, power, U Love Him, praise Him evermore; Let us strive, and never cease, Him in everything to please.
2 Born for this intent we are, Our Creator to declare;
God to love, and serve, and praise, God to honour all our days.
3 Lift we, then, our hearts to God, Like the church above employed: Day and night the angels sing Praises to their heavenly King.
4 Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!
Live, by heaven and earth adored; Filled with Thee, let all things cry, Glory be to God most high !
"Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving." PSALM CXlvii. 7.
TOW good and how pleasant Thy praises to sing,
O God Everpresent,
Our Father and King! How many heart-broken Who wandering roam, With words kindly spoken, Thou welcomest home.
2 Our Father Almighty, All wisdom is Thine; The stars of the night by Thine ordinance shine; Yet higher Thou raisest The meek of the earth, And the proud ones abasest, Whatever their birth.
3 Thou pourest the fountain, Thou showerest the rain- Grass grows on the mountain, And corn on the plain- Thou givest rich measure To all things in course, And takest no pleasure In swiftness or force.
4 But they who confide in Thy merciful word, Whatever betiding
Are loved of the Lord, Thy grace we rely on, Thy faithfulness sing; Come, children of Zion, Rejoice in your King.
