He was born Dec. 9, 1810, the elder son of Eugene Viceroy of Italy, (the step-son of the Emperor Napoleon,) by the Princess Augusta-Amelia of Bavaria; and brother to Hortense the widow of Dom Pedro, exEmperor of the Brazils. This young Prince was one of the richest men in Europe. He had been married only a few weeks to the Queen, who is left a youthful widow not sixteen. His death was caused by quinsey.
