HYMN LXVII. P. M.

To God the Redeemer.

I.

ALL'D with the tyrant's pow'r,

GEre finally undone;

O blessed be the hour

That led us to thy throne! While vengeance threaten'd o'er our head, And dreadful darkness round us spread.

II.

Hail to the out-stretch'd arm
That brought the dear reprieve!
Hail to the pow'rful charm

That urg'd us to believe!

While vengeance threaten'd o'er our head, And dreadful darkness round us spread.

III.

Who now shall dare arraign

The justified of GOD?

Burst is the legal chain

That barr'd th' eternal road; For JESUS reigns in vengeance stead, And Gospel-privileges spread,

HYMN LXVIII. P. M.
The Divinity of Christ.

I.

AIL! thou eternal Logos, hail!
Before whose glory Angels veil

Their rapture beaming eyes:
Our grateful spirits hold thee dear;
To thee we breathe the ardent pray'r,
And hallelujahs rise.

II.

Yes, while incessant shouts of praise
Break from angelic ranks, and raise
The concert of the bless'd;
While all that tread the starry road,
Announce the dear Redeemer GOD;
Be it on earth confess'd.

III.

Being of beings! Lord of all!
While yonder lucid orbs that roll
Declare the great I AM;
We recollect thy holy word,

Where all the names and works of GoD
Are given to the LAMB.

IV.

Thy works, thy wond'rous works, display The attributes of deity,

And spell the sacred name; JEHOVAH! JESUS! reigning Cause! Yes, at thy mighty fiat rose

This universal frame.

V.

Redeeming LORD! to thee we bow;
Bless thy rejoicing people now
With wisdom from above:

Come with thy vesture dipt in blood,

I

Appear a very present GOD,
A GOD of perfect love.

HYMN LXIX. P. M.

The Rapture.

I.

ASTEN, hasten sweetest dove,
Sacred sanctifier !

Breathe the soul-abasing love;
Form the true desire ;

Clear the gloomy mists away;
Tune the heart to harmony;
Then we'll sing, and then we'll pray,
With celestial energy.

II.

Bear me on thy rapid wing,
Everlasting spirit!

Where the young-ey'd cherubs sing,
And the saints inherit,

(Flutt'ring round the flaming throne) Joys eternally their own:

This the cry of ev'ry one,

Glory to th' incarnate Son!

III.

Burst, ye em'rald gates! and bring,
To my raptur'd vision,
All th' ecstatic joys that spring
Round the bright Elysian :
Lo! we lift our longing eyes;
Break, ye intervening skies!

SON of RIGHTEOUSNESS arise!
Ope' the gates of Paradise.

IV.

See! th' exalted Son of GoD
Pours the intercession!
Mark the sin-atoning blood,
Bend in adoration!
Endless glory is secur'd;
True perfection is restor❜d;
Sinner, see! and be assur'd
All thy wants in JESUS stor'd.

V.

Floods of everlasting light
Freely flash before him;
Myriads, with supreme delight,
Instantly adore him:

Angels trumps resound his fame,
Lutes of lucid gold proclaim,
All the music of his name,
Heaven echoing the theme.

VI.

Hark! the thrilling symphonies Seem, methinks, to seize us;

Join we too the holy lays,

JESUS! JESUS! JESUS!

Sweetest sound in seraph's song,

Sweetest note on mortal's tongue,

Sweetest carol ever rung,

JESUS! JESUS! flow along

VII.

Four and twenty elders rise
From their princely station;

Shout his glorious victories,
Sing the great salvation;
Cast their crowns before his throne,
Cry in reverential tone,
Holy! holy! holy One!

T' whom be endless praise alone,

VIII.

Martyrs in a grand array
Circle the REDEEMER;
Now their crimson banners play
Near th' imperial streamer;
And before his pierced feet
Down they cast the coronet,
Ruby wreath superbly set,
With the dazzling saphiret.

1X. 4.

High ascends the mingling throngs,
Fill'd with heavenly fire;

Raise, believers! raise your songs;
Join the sacred choir.

Soon in yonder faith view'd plain,
Ye shall shout in rapt'rous strain,
Free from sin, and free from pain.
While eternal ages reign.

'TIS
