GRATITUDE TO GOD.
7s. M.

1 THOU who art enthroned above!
Thou by whom we live and move!
Thee we bless; thy praise be sung,
While an ear can hear a tongue.

2 When the morning paints the skies,
When the sparkling stars arise,—
Thy high favours to rehearse,
Thy firm faith in grateful verse.

3 Decks the spring with flowers the field?
Harvest rich doth autumn yield?

Giver of all good below!

Lord! from thee these blessings flow.

4 Who thy wonders can express?
All thy thoughts are fathomless :
Lord, thou art most great, most high!
Such from all eternity!

PRAYER FOR GOD'S GUIDANCE.

C.M.

4

1 ETERNAL Source of life and light!
Supremely good and wise!

To thee we bring our grateful vows,
To thee we lift our eyes.

2 Our dark and erring minds illume
With truth's celestial rays;
Inspire our hearts with sacred love,
And tune our lips to praise.

SANDYS.

CAPPE'S SELECTION.

3 Conduct us safely by thy grace,
Through life's perplexing road;
And place us when that journey's o'er,
In heaven, thy blest abode.

THE BEAUTIFUL LAND.

1 I WILL sing you a song of that beautiful land,
The far-away home of the soul,

Where no storms ever beat on the glittering strand,
While the years of eternity roll.

2 Oh, that home of the soul! in my visions and dreams
Its bright, jasper walls I can see;

Till I fancy but thinly the veil intervenes
Between the fair city and me!

3 Oh, how sweet will it be in that beautiful land,
So free from all sorrow and pain!

5

With songs on our lips and with harps in our hands
To meet one another again.

CLOSING HYMN OF PRAISE.

ESTLIN.

C.M.

6

1 THOU art the first and thou the last;
Time centres all in thee,

The almighty God, who was, and is,
And evermore shall be.

2 To thee let every tongue be praise,
And every heart be love;
All grateful honours paid on earth,
And nobler songs above.

PRAISE TO THE CREATOR.

8s & 7s. M.

1 PRAISE to thee, thou great Creator!
Praise be thine, from every tongue!
Join, my soul, with every creature,
Join the universal song.

Father, Source of all compassion!
Free, unbounded grace is thine ;
Hail the God of our salvation !
Praise him for his love divine.

FAWCETT.

2 For ten thousand blessings given,
For the hope of future joy,
Sound his praise through earth and heaven,
Sound Jehovah's praise on high.

Joyfully on earth adore him,

Till in heaven our song we raise ;
There enraptured fall before him,

Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

THANKS TO GOD.

7s. M.

1 O GIVE thanks to him who made
Morning light and evening shade;
Source and giver of all good,
Nightly sleep and daily food;
Quickener of our wearied powers,
Guard of our unconscious hours.

2 O give thanks to nature's king,
Who made every breathing thing;
His our warm and sentient frame,
His the mind's immortal flame.
O how close the ties that bind
Spirits to the eternal mind!

3 0 give thanks with heart and lip,
For we are his workmanship,
And all creatures are his care:
Not a bird that cleaves the air
Falls unnoticed ;-but who can
Speak the Father's love to man?

GOD IS LOVE.

8 & 7s. M.

1 GOD is love: his mercy brightens
All the path in which we rove;
Bliss he wakes and woe he lightens :
God is wisdom, God is love.

2 Chance and change are busy ever;
Man decays, and ages move;
But his mercy waneth never:
God is wisdom, God is love.

3 Ev'n the hour that darkest seemeth
Will his changeless goodness prove;
From the mist his brightness streameth:
God is wisdom, God is love.

4 He with earthly cares entwineth
Hope and comfort from above;
Everywhere his glory shineth:
God is wisdom, God is love.

CONDER.
