“Watch and Pray.”

"Take ye heed, watch and pray."--MARK xiii. 33.

Tune-Sacred Songs and Solos, No. 146.

Y soul, be on thy guard,

MY

Ten thousand foes arise;
The hosts of sin are pressing hard
To draw Thee from the skies.

Oh, watch, and fight, and pray;
The battle ne'er give o'er;

Renew it boldly every day,
And help divine implore.

"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again he cannot see the

Kingdom of God."-JOHN iii. 3.

Tune-Sacred Songs and Solos, No. 146.

How

OW solemn are the words,
And yet to faith how plain,

Which Jesus uttered while on earth—
"Ye must be born again!"

"Ye must be born again!"
For so hath God decreed;
No reformation will suffice—
'Tis life poor sinners need.

"Ye must be born again!"

And life in Christ must have;

In vain the soul may elsewhere go-
'Tis He alone can save.

"Ye must be born again!"

Or never enter heaven;

'Tis only blood-washed ones are there

The ransomed and forgiven.

The Name of Jesus.

"Blessed be His glorious Name for ever."-PSALM lxxii. 19. Tune-Sacred Songs and Solos, No. 148.

TAKI

`AKE the name of Jesus with you,
Child of sorrow and of woe;

It will joy and comfort give you-
Take it then where'er you go.

Precious Name, oh how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of heaven!

Precious Name, oh how sweet, how sweet!

2 Take the name of Jesus ever,
As a shield from every snare;
If temptations round you gather,
Breathe that holy name in prayer.

3 Oh, the precious name of Jesus!
How it thrills our souls with joy,
When His loving arms receive us,
And His songs our tongues employ!

4 At the name of Jesus bowing,

Falling prostrate at His feet,

King of kings in heaven we'll crown Him,
When our journey is complete.

Fully Persuaded.

"Persuading them concerning Jesus.”—Acts xxviii. 23.
Tune-Sacred Songs and Solos, No. 149.

FULLY persuaded-Lord, I believe!
Fully persuaded-Thy Spirit give;
I will obey Thy call,

Low at Thy feet I fall;
Now I surrender all,

Christ to receive.

2 Fully persuaded-Lord, hear my cry!
Fully persuaded-pass me not by ;
Just as I am I come,
I will no longer roam,

Oh, make my heart Thy home;
Save or I die!

3 Fully persuaded-no more opprest,
Fully persuaded-now I am blest;
Jesus is now my Guide,

I will in Christ abide ;
My soul is satisfied

In Him to rest.

2 That will not murmur or complain
Beneath the chastening rod;
But in the hour of grief or pain
Will lean upon its God:

3 A faith that shines more bright and clear
When tempests rage without;
That when in danger knows no fear,
In darkness fears no doubt.

4 Lord, give us such a faith as this,
And then whate'er may come,

We'll taste, e'en here, the hallowed bliss
Of an eternal home!

"Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound."-PSALM lxxxix. 15.

Tune-Sacred Songs and Solos, No. 150.

SALVATION! oh, the joyful sound!
What pleasure to our ears!

A sovereign balm for every wound,
A cordial for our fears.

2 Salvation! let the echo fly

The spacious earth around,
While all the armies of the sky
Conspire to raise the sound.

3 Salvation! O Thou bleeding Lamb,
To Thee the praise belongs!
Salvation shall inspire our hearts,
And dwell upon our tongues.

Joy to the World.

"In His days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth."-PSALM lxxii. 7.

153

Tune-Sacred Songs and Solos, No. 150.

OY to the world! the Lord is come!

JLet earth receive her King;

Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing.

2 Joy to the world; the Saviour reigns!
Let men their songs employ,

While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains,
Repeat the sound in joy.

3 He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove

The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love.

Come, Holy Spirit.

"It is the Spirit that quickeneth."-JOHN vi. 63.

Tune-Sacred Songs and Solos, No. 150.

COM

OME, Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove,
With all Thy quickening powers;

Kindle a flame of sacred love

In these cold hearts of ours!

2 O Lord, and shall we ever live
At this poor dying rate?-
Our love so faint, so cold to Thee,
And Thine to us so great?

3 Come, Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove,
With all Thy quickening powers;
Come, shed abroad a Saviour's love,
And that shall kindle ours!
