Page 328, No. 1.-Brown poplin costume. The long skirt falls in close folds, and a double ruffle at each side is carried up the entire depth. The small tablier is gathered up at the sides, where it is covered by the ruffle. Three narrow rows of puffing divide the flounce near the top, and above it rises a flat band of black velvet, which is met by velvet bows, each composed of three loops with pointed ends. Two deep flounces cross the front of the skirt; these have their plaits arranged in groups of three, and the upper one is set on beneath a broad puffing, with velvet bows covering the plain spaces. Bows finish the flat band. Velvet buttons fasten the close-fitting casaque, a ruffle encircles the neck, and the fronts of the box-plaited basque are sharply hollowed, and finished with velvet revers. The coatsleeve has a velvet cuff, and above this are three folds of poplin, with a square and fringed falling end. A small bow is placed upon the folds. All the borderings are of velvet, and at the back of the neck is a bow. Linen collar and undersleeves. Black velvet bonnet, trimmed with satin ribbon, a lace vail, and a black feather, with a white aigrette.

Nos. 2 and 3.-Front and back of a dress of olive-green cloth. Long gored skirt. Draped tunic, partly open at the back, with revers. Loose-fitting jacket, with a small collar, large pockets, and coat-sleeves. Trimming of black velvet bands and buttons. The velvet revers of the corsage form a heart-shaped plastron. Linen collar and undersleeves. Beaver hat with a high crown; band, bow, and fringed end of black velvet; long black feather.

Page 332, No. 1.-Walking dress of stone-colored poplin. The gored skirt has a very deep flounce, which is arranged in groups of folds, and surmounted by two broad bands of velvet to match; a third band outlines the scalloped heading. Scalloped and draped tunic. Close-fitting casaque, with a coatshaped basque; the straight sleeves have scalloped cuffs. Velvet trimming and buttons; two large buttons fasten down the plaits of the basque. Linen collar and undersleeves. Hat of stone-colored velvet, trimmed with blue satin ribbons and a half-wreath of blue velvet flowers.

No. 2.-Promenade costume of yellowish-brown silk. The deep flounce has but little fullness, and is set on at some distance above the edge of the gored skirt. Falling upon it is a row of points, bound with black silk velvet, and worked with black silk. The pointed and draped overskirt has a full bouf fant, which is supported by a broad band with points at both edges. Close corsage; points finish the small standing collar and the wide sleeves, which are half-open at the outer seams. The ceinture fastens at the back beneath a bow with a broad and pointed end. All the borderings are of black velvet; the buttons are of the same. Silk embroideries. Embroidered muslin collar and undersleeves, with lace ruffles. Hat of yellowish-brown silk, trimmed with black velvet and a long spray of pale-yellow blossoms. Black lace vail.

No. 1.-Bow of fringed ribbon and embroidered muslin, with ruffles of white lace.

Page 329, Nos. 1 and 2.-Collerette and undersleeve of muslin and lace. The collerette is pointed, and arranged in close plaits; the trimming consists of lace insertions and a deep lace ruffle. The rounded tab is composed entirely of insertions and a ruffle; the other is of fluted muslin, with a ruffle running down one side only to the point. A velvet ribbon interlaces the appliqué trimming. The large bow is formed of velvet loops and folds of lace. The sleeve à sabot is trimmed to correspond. No. 3.-Black lace collerette and cap. The former is puffed, and headed by a small ruffle, which is sewn on beneath a band of corded ribbon. The deep fall of rich lace has a ruffled heading which partly covers the puffing. Ribbon loops and ends. The upper portion of the cap is puffed; the rest falls loosely and quite low upon the shoulders. The lace ruffle forms a point upon the forehead, and above this is a large bow of ribbon with pointed ends.

No. 2.-Cambric collar. The revers are hollowed-out, and the bordering of insertion has a ruffle of deep lace.

No. 3.-Dress cap of white net. It forms a full pouf, and the plaited band in which this is framed is confined by a flat ribbon. Rounded and ruffled tabs fall upon the chignon. At one side is a ribbon bow with floating ends.

No. 4.-Sleeve for No. 2. The lace ruffles are separated by a band and bow of colored ribbon.

No. 5.-Collerette of muslin and lace. The front trimming forms folds. Velvet ribbon band and bow.

No. 6.-Model for a cambric undersleeve. The cuff is large, and edged with lace.

No. 7.-Cambric chemisette. A lace ruffle trims the tucked and pointed revers. The standing collar is of lace.

No. 1.-Toilet for a young girl. Gored skirt of dark-blue silk, with two small and gathered flounces. These are scalloped and bound with the same; the upper one has a scalloped heading, and is sewn on beneath a rouleau. Overdress of blue flowered woolen fabric. The skirt forms a double bouffant, with a small scalloped flounce, and is draped at each side beneath a black velvet bow; the rounded tablier has but little fullness. Velvet buttons fasten the close-fitting casaque. The basque is scalloped, and the box-plaits at the back are fastened down by a large bow of velvet. A deep ruffle and velvet bow finish the sleeve. A small ruffle encircles the neck. All the borderings are of the material. Embroidered muslin collar and undersleeves. Hat of gray plush, trimmed with blue satin ribbon.

No. 2.-Boy's suit of dark-gray cloth. The full pantaloons are gathered in below the knees. Belted blouse, with straight sleeves and a large collar. Bias band borderings of gray silk, striped with black. Silk buttons. Linen collar. Felt hat, with a gray ribbon band.

No. 3.-Dress of nut-colored cashmere. The gored skirt has a gathered flounce, which is headed by three rows of blue silk

No. 2.--Bow of colored silk, with rounded tabs and lace ruffles cord, the upper row outlining scallops. The skirt of the closeof different widths.

No. 3.-Muslin breakfast-cap. It is puffed, laid in two broad plaits, and framed in double flutings of lace. The ribbon band has two bows, the larger being in front. The pointed tab is edged with lace, and confined by a ribbon loop and bow with long ends. A large loop takes the place of strings.

No. 4.-Collar of muslin and lace. This has two large revers and rounded tabs. Folds of lace form the jabot, and between the folds appear small loops of colored ribbon. Ribbon bow with pointed ends.

No. 5.-Muslin collar, with large revers and pointed ends, arranged in folds. Lace insertion and ruffles. The trimming outlines rounded revers. Velvet ribbon bow.

Page 324, Nos. 3 and 4.-Lace fichu and undersleeves. These are composed of insertions and ruffles. Sinall eaf-shaped puff

Japanese hat of blue silk, with a rouleau of darker velvet near the edge. A blue gros-grains ribbon is loosely rolled around the high crown, and knotted at the back. At one side is a spray of blush-roses and foliage.

No. 4.-Dress of apple-green poplin. Gored skirt. Draped and slightly pointed tunic. Close corsage, with a pointed basque, which opens upon the hips, and forms a box-plait at the back. Double puffings head the tight sleeve. The two
