3 There's a beautiful land on high : My Jesus hath said that no tears shall be shed 4 There's a beautiful land on high, Where we never shall say "Good-bye;' When over the river we're happy for ever, 83. WAS a wand'ring sheep, I did not love the fold; I did not love my Shepherd's voice, I was a wayward child, I did not love my home, 2 The Shepherd sought His sheep, They found me nigh to death, 3 Jesus my Shepherd is, 'Twas He that loved my soul; 'Twas He that wash'd me in His blood; 'Twas He that made me whole; 'Twas He that sought the lost, 4 I was a wand'ring sheep, But now I love my Saviour's voice, But now I love my Father's voice, 84. I WHY should I fear the darkest hour, Jesus vouchsafes to be my tower. 2 Though hot the fight, why quit the field? Why must I either fly or yield, Since Jesus is my mighty shield? 3 When creature-comforts fade and die, Worldlings may weep, but why should I? Jesus still lives, and still is nigh. 4 Though all the flocks and herds were dead, My soul a famine need not dread, 5 For Jesus is my living bread. I know not what may soon betide, 6 Though sin would fill me with distress, 7 Though faint my prayers, and cold my love, My steadfast hope shall not remove While Jesus intercedes above. 8 Against me earth and hell combine; But on my side is power divine; Jesus is all, and He is mine! 85. I MY soul, there is a country Where stands a winged sentry, 2 There, above noise and danger, Sweet Peace sits crown'd with smiles, And One born in a manger Commands the beauteous files. 3 He is thy gracious Friend, I 4 If thou canst get but thither, Thy fortress, and thy ease. 5 Leave, then, thy foolish ranges, 86. JESUS, Thou Joy of loving hearts! Thou Fount of Life! Thou Light of men! 2 Thy truth unchanged has ever stood; Where'er our changeful lot is cast; 5 O Jesus, ever with us stay! Make all our moments calm and bright! Chase the dark night of sin away, Shed o'er the world Thy holy light! 87. I WHEN I survey the wondrous Cross My richest gain I count but loss, And pour contempt on all my pride. 2 Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, Save in the death of Christ my God: 3 See, from His head, His hands, His feet, Or thorns compose so rich a crown! 4 Were the whole realm of nature mine, Demands my soul, my life, my all. 88. IONE more day's work for Jesus, One less of earth for me! But heaven is nearer, and Christ is dearer, His love and light fill all my soul to-night. One more day's work for Jesus, 2 One more day's work for Jesus: 'Tis joy, not duty, to speak His beauty : My soul mounts on the wing, At the mere thought how Christ my life has bought. 3 One more day's work for Jesus : How sweet the work has been, To tell the story, to show the glory How it did shine in this poor heart of mine! 4 One more day's work for Jesus Oh yes, a weary day; But heaven shines clearer, and rest comes nearer, At each step of the way. And Christ in all ! before His face I fall! 5 Oh, blessed work for Jesus! Oh, rest at Jesu's feet! There toil seems pleasure, my wants are treasure, And pain for Him is sweet. Lord, if I may, I'll serve another day. 89. you-will you take it? I A BLESSING for A word from the heart-will you speak it? Will you believe, or your Saviour neglect ? 2 A death to be fear'd-will you fear it? A voice that invites-will you hear it? Strait is the portal and narrow the way; 3 The cross of your Lord-will you bear it? There's life in that cross-will you share it? Soon will your time of probation be o'er, 4 The bondage of sin-will you break it? The water of life-will you take it? Come to the arms that are open for you, Hide in the wounds that by faith you may view, 66 Choose ye to-day! 90. I CALL them in "-the poor, the wretched, Sin-stain'd wanderers from the fold: Peace and pardon freely offer! Can you weigh their worth in gold! He is waiting: "Call them in." |
