in the South

HE alert community recognizes that it has something at stake when a new enterprise establishes itself within its boundaries.

Recognition of mutual responsibility of a community and its industries has built up the very general desire for local co-operation into a program of practical support in many cities and towns-particularly in

the South.

For this reason, in most cases, selection of a factory location in the
South, resolves itself into weighing the peculiar local advantages
which, from the standpoint of present and future operation, will
offer the most favorable conditions for the industry in question.
One of the assets of this organization of Engineers is a very thorough
knowledge of the South and of the differences between relatively
close sections which may be great enough to influence operating
conditions, the amount of capital investment, or even the degree
of possible success.

We shall be glad to discuss this personally or by correspondence.
Several phases of this problem are discussed in "Examinations and
Industrial Surveys" and in "Factories for the Future," copies of
which we shall be glad to send promptly on request.
