2. Can our own works save us?

By the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight. (3 Ro. 20.)

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began; but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, (II Tim. 1.9, 10.)

3. Are we all of ourselves spiritually dead?

2. Are we able to renew our own hearts?

Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots ? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. (13 Jer. 23.)

3. Is it absolutely necessary that our hearts should be changed?

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.-Ye must be born again. (3 Jn. 3, 7.).

4. Has God declared himself willing to pardon and renew returning sinners?

If the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
